Ratio of Ergonomists to Engineers

Based on my experiences (not scientific studies) in over 30 countries I have found that in most corporations there is one human factors and ergonomics specialist for 210 engineers (including computer scientists). However, for the top 10 percent of the corporations ( as assessed by profitability ) there is one human factors and ergonomics specialist for 80 engineers and computer scientists. Therefore one may wonder what the contribution of human factors and ergonomics is to the profitability of corporations. Can it be assessed? Should it be assessed? After all, corporate accounting does not include human capitals as assets or liabilities in their balance sheet, even though in acquisitions and corporations values they do. So should human resources accounting be part of the corporate financial landscape?
